i disagree with dustinntech. it's the same as the people selling fake designer hand bags.  they didn't get permission to use the likeness of the product in a sale and when you boil it down - it is stealing.  the gold farmers are doing the same thing.

trust me i know how much gamers hate farmers because im one of them but look at it this way you've been questing and grinding for weeks trying to reach lvl 70 then you get there and you have to buy a flying mount and train it that takes around 5k or more and you have to get a flying mount before you can run most of the high lvl instances to get good gear that means countless hours of relentless farming and payed runs till you reach that 5k. I've seen many people get fed up with the game for just this reason. with a gold exchange you could just fork over a few coins and save your self decades of mindless grinding that the farmers would be happy to do just to make a few spare bucks. also setting it up as an in game system would make it convenient for players to access the gold market with out having to open a new window like you would have to to do a exchange like with stationexchange.com. as for Sony charging for it i have no idea and that sounds like something blizz should be concerned about. another major corporation cutting in on possible profit sounds like something to get upset about to me?

It seems like a double edge sword.  Gamers hate the farmers and will even camp on one if they find one in the game because the farmers are enabling non-dedicated (or posers) to get the same gear that they have spent half a year acquiring.  Then on the other hand, these shirtless guys working 12 hours a day 7 days a week are just trying to make a living.  You illustrate a good solution and turning it into a win win win.  SOE has created www.stationexchange.com so players can sell directly, however, Sony takes some of the pie which seems fishy to me.  Sony already has gamers paying a subscription and then they turn around and make money on the hours gamers spend in the game?  Hmmmm.

after reading this article i can see how the wow gold market is an important job market and it would be incredibly devastating to those people who now rely on this new market. but how do we keep this busy new market open and stop the spamming of wow gold farmers that annoys so many of the players? one way would be too route a wow-real money exchange system through 
World of Warcrafts Auction house. making it possible to put up gold for auction for real money. upon posting or buying a auction the panel will ask you for your payment method (like pay-pal or some form of credit). if blizz already has your payment information (like if you pay with a credit card instead of game cards) or if you have done it before it will just automatically ask you if you want to make the transaction, as soon as the payment is made you got your gold in the mail box no need for waiting on the site to mail it to you. 
    i believe that this would create a stable make that blizzard could control were not only corporate farmers but private players can compete for a healthy piece of the profit and eliminate the need for wow gold sites and wow gold spamming
