Extra! Extra! Wrath of the Lich King will have PvP zones!
That’s right folks! The new expansion to World of Warcraft WILL included Player vs. Player zones, so now you can all stop worrying about this and start freaking out about something else.
Actually this is not the point of the post but this is what a post I read in www.computerandvideogames.com sounds like after I read it. The new issue of PC Zone (U.K. video game mag) has an interview with Tigole were he talks about one new feature that WoLK will include. This addition is apparently a PvP zone the size of Westfall that will not be instanced and will not support PvE players at all…. Whatever that means.
This is basically all the information provided in that post and with that alone it doesn’t really come across as something mega stupendous. Hopefully this is just a little tease and the whole interview elaborates on what this open PvP zone really entails because with this current info it sounds like an Alterac Valley zone without the quests? And saying that this huge PvP zone is not instanced doesn’t add to the coolness factor of the idea, it just brings the question of how is the game going to handle all of this. Anyone that has played WOW knows that this game can’t take more than 50 people in one spot fighting each other outside of an instance. The choppiness that happens in these occasions seriously make the game unplayable at those levels of interaction. The way the game is right now guarantees that for a long time after the launch of the expo this PvP zone will be unplayable and at worst case scenario the lagginess will bleed into the adjacent zones screwing over other players that don’t want to be involved until it‘s fixed.
Let’s cross our fingers and hope that Blizz FINALLY delivers yet another thing they promised to be in the game years ago. Hopefully this huge delay in delivery means that they are perfecting this little new addition.
