Former Trek Online designers says STO is nigh impossible to make

Former senior system designer Eric Heimburg made a post in www.eldergame.com stating the many difficulties there are in making an MMO based on the Star Trek universe. Let me first stated that, yes I am not a video game designer or anything that comes close to that, but this post read with defeatist attitude written all over it.
He first complains that they need to make two games, a space ship one and a ground one. I don’t really know why there is a need when there have been a whole bunch of Trek games out there that do not include these two aspects and do fine. Then he goes on to complain that space is basically featureless so people would find it hard to relate to the landmarks which will be variations of the same anomaly and so on. All I have to say to this is that these dude should’ve been sat down and required to watch that History Channel show The Universe, after watching that I dare this guy to say that creating space features are very difficult to convey to players.
This really looks like the last couple attempts at Trek shows that were trying to appease a certain group of fans and ended up making everyone else angry. This along the troubles Perpetual is having with all their dealing really looks like this Trek... enterprise should be put in the agony both and zapped to death.
Le post.
