Evil EA is being evil again
EA mythic has closed down the San Francisco studio of UO and will be moving it to Fairfax, VA to have one huge MMO megahub. They will be housed along the DAO and Warhammer Online teams making everyone into one big, happy, joyful family. The problem is that, according to some dude from the Q&A team, most everyone is not making the move. There is just one person that is definitely going over and two others still considering it. In the long term, the game may end up changing a bit from what we are used to if most of the team will be made up of new people.
I don't know what's going on over at EA Mythic but people are leaving and dropping like (insert funny statement here). It looks that there will eventually be one super team working on all their MMOs at the same time. Since they are the Evil EA they might have the ability to do what Perpetual Entertainment couldn't with Gods & Heroes and Star Trek Online.
The future of a lot of MMOs has changed rapidly over the last month and hopefully all the changes end up turning out good because right now they look bad.

They destroyed Richard Garriot's game world, destroyed its (original) user base, destroyed the WAR project, and by the looks of things are about to destroy DAoC (i stopped playing daoc about a year ago).
Sad...
EA please go back to making cheesy sports games and leave the real game hobbyists to perfecting the artform. Kthx.
