Kartrider is… well its freaking Mario Kart Online, the end. This MMO comes from the guys that brought us the biggest and most popular MMO in the world. That game being Maplestory with its 50 million subscribers world wide, and those guys being Nexon. A game being made by Nexon means two things, its Korean and ITS FREEEEEEE!!! But you can “enhance your gameplay” by buying some game currency with real world cash. This gives you the ability to customize your ride as you see fit by adjusting color, details, parts, etc, etc. So far out of all the “free” Koran MMOs I’ve played only one really pushed the micro-payments issue by having really good items available right away. Things that a player that wouldn’t pay for wasn’t going to see for a long time. Lets hope Kartrider doesn’t turn out like this but follows the other more lenient way.

From the movies I’ve seen so far this game looks like its going to be a fun time. I mean its Mario Kart online so unless they reaaaaaally screw up with the gameplay this should turn into another hit for Nexon.

Actually I did catch a little gameplay mistake in the way this game handles boosting.

In this first movie conveniently titled “1 pro-gamer vs 7 amateures” we see the perfect example of this gameplay fault. To gain boost in this game you need to fill up a bar, to fill that bar to need to drift, and here is where the problem starts. You literally just need to drift for a couple of seconds to fill the bar up and start boosting. So basically the race just ends up being, a bunch of people sliding all over the place to fill the bar up to boost. And this second example is just the extreme, this guy is THE master of this game. The stuff that he pulls there is crazy

Hopefully this little faulty mechanic gets change for the US release because this is really a game killer. This game can actually have me playing for 18 hours a day like those crazy times with WOW and its old pvp Honor System.
