Now normally this is a cause for celebration that X game got rid of all those cheaters, hackers, farmer, etc, but this time around SquareEnix seems to have caught a lot of dolphins in their nets. Why do i mean by this obtuse remark Scott asks? you see FFXI is one of those old timey MMOs that is set in his way and its not going to change for anyone no matter how wrong it is. The main example for this is the inability to play the game in windowed mode, this is a HUGE pain in this game because (remember i said "old timey" right?) in FFXI they do not try to hide the time sinks set to expand your time in the world. I mean yes its sort of cool, yet at the same time annoying as hell when you aren't in the mood, that traveling across the world actually takes time, that you actually have to wait 15 minutes for the ship to come and so on but... come on, can you give the ability to use my machine(PC) for something else while i wait?

The game is played in full screen and if you wanted to alt+tab to do something else your game crashed, or you got disconnected? I don't remember exactly now cause it stop playing some time ago but i do remember that you couldn't continuously do this with ease. So a bright kid developed the ability play the game in windowed mode but since this broke the rules of the game some people ended up getting banned. EVERYONE wants this choice in the game but for some reason Square Enix never budged... I mean come on! Blizzard finally added Dash to Raptors after 2 years of complaining! When that happened that meant that any change in any MMO that players wanted because it makes sense should be done!

Why did i bring that up? Because in the list given by Square Enix of what people were banned for they list "usage of third-party tools" which includes the FFXI windower. I just cant see a company kicking out people for something thats severely needed in the game. Some of the other reasons given also seem a bit... strange. One being "- Instances of areas or monster monopolization." What the hell does that mean? That you couldn't camp monsters that are designed to basically be camped because they give severely rare and valuable (not as in cash... but yeah some times cash) items what would be awesome to have? I remember one time that i stayed up till 7AM camping Hoo Mjuu the Torrent for the Monster Signa cause a couple of Linkshell buds (guild mates) wanted to start leveling bard. I said that i would help if i got my own Signa and we... basically monopolized the spawn point. I think we ended up with 7 people all covering the area, we had the biggest group there, did that mean we "monopolized" that area? Was that action the type of action they are talking about? What about the Tremor Rams that drop items for crafting? I can't control the area with a few buds cause they want that other Bard item and i need their skins for stuff?!?! So i should randomly stand in one spot and wait for it?

I love FFXI but some of their tactics for making the game better have to be worked on. Still, good job at getting a good amount of hackers and cheats, you just have to... tighten it up, make it tighter, tighter. So you don't catch the wrong dudes.
